菊花诗 咏菊诗虽不始于陶渊明，但陶翁的爱菊，由于宋人《爱莲说》的推许而更出名，有人甚至推陶为菊花的护花神。
菊花以黄色显示自己的容貌。
《礼记·月令》：“季秋之月，鞠有黄华。
”“黄花”在诗人笔下成了菊花的代词。
“忽见黄花吐，方知素节回。
”初唐王绩见到菊花吐艳，醒悟到重阳节的来临。
杜甫在战乱中度过重阳，“旧采黄花賸，新梳白发微”；“苦遭白发不相放，羞见黄花无数新”。
——从时序的推移中觉察到自身的衰老。
李白却用“九日龙山饮，黄花笑逐臣”；“黄花不掇手，战鼓遥相闻”，显示他所特有的豪情。
白菊可算是后起之秀。
最早咏白菊的当推刘禹锡和白居易。
令狐楚家中有白菊，刘一再见诸吟咏：“家家菊尽黄，”“梁园独如霜。
”花的洁白有如“仙人披雪氅，素女不红妆”；花的娇贵使得“桂丛惭并发，梅蕊妒先芳。
”白居易回忆经历的杭州、洛阳、苏州“三处菊花同色黄”，晚年见到“满园花菊郁金黄，中有孤丛色似霜”时，不由得既兴奋又感慨。
中唐时白菊还是如此珍稀，到晚唐李商隐笔下，便是“霜天白菊绕阶墀”了。
相应地咏白菊诗也多了起来。
司空图对白菊怀有偏爱，写有《白菊杂书四首》和两组《白菊三首》。
诗人喜欢菊花，看重的是“寒花开已尽，菊蕊独盈枝”（杜甫）。
元稹说得更直接：“不是花中偏爱菊，此花开后更无花。
”僧齐已赞它“无艳无妖别有香”，声明自己“栽多不为待重阳”，“却是真心爱澹黄”。
东坡一句“菊残犹有傲霜枝”，既赞菊花的品格亦隐喻自己的情操。
